About Us
Northeastern
Rural Electric Membership Corporation, headquartered in Columbia City,
Indiana, is a consumer-owned corporation that supplies electric power
to members in portions of Allen, Huntington, Kosciusko, Noble, Wabash
and Whitley counties in Northeastern Indiana. More than 25,000 households
and businesses receive power from Northeastern REMC.
We
are a distribution utility--we don’t generate our own electricity. We
purchase our power from Wabash Valley Power Association, which is headquartered
in Indianapolis, Indiana. Wabash Valley Power is a generating and transmission
cooperative which is owned and controlled by rural electrics in the north
and central parts of Indiana that receive electricity from that organization.
Northeastern REMC is wholly owned by the people it serves and is governed
by a board of directors elected by members in each of nine voting districts.
Approximately 80 employees work for Northeastern REMC to serve its residential,
commercial and industrial accounts.
Corporate Mission
To meet our members' ongoing needs for economical and reliable electric service in ways that merit the trust and confidence of the public. |
