What is the customer charge?

The customer charge partially covers the cost of making safe and reliable electric service available.  It is the minimum monthly amount each member is charged per metered service and does not vary with the amount of electricity consumed.  The charge includes part of the cost of owning and maintaining the distribution system, service wires, transformers and metering equipment; member billing and accounting; taxes; and administrative and general expenses.
