DeFreeuw receives award for service excellence

Indiana Electric Cooperatives named Mike DeFreeuw, Northeastern REMC’s director of marketing and communications, the recipient of the 2018 Tom Taylor Award. The award is presented annually to an Indiana electric cooperative member services employee who has demonstrated excellence in leadership, attitude, community service and commitment to electric cooperative principles.

Board officers named for 2018-19

In its first scheduled board meeting following the co-op’s 2018 Member Appreciation Night and Annual Meeting, board members elected officers for the coming year.

New pricing for solar

Participation in Northeastern REMC’s Community Solar Program provides an ideal solution for residential and commercial members who support renewable energy but don’t have a suitable site for solar panels or the money to invest in a system of their own. Northeastern’s new pricing has now made solar power much more affordable.

Two incumbents, one new director named to board following largest election in REMC’s history

Two incumbents and one new director were elected to serve on Northeastern’s board at the cooperative’s September 8 Member Appreciation Night and Annual Meeting.
Doug Schrader, District 2, and Tom Western, District 4, were reelected by members to serve another three year term on the board. Schrader has been a director for 38 years. Western has served on the board for 33 years.

Meter upgrades begin in August

The first phase of upgrading a portion of our residential electric meters will begin in August and continue through October. Approximately 10,000 meters will be changed out during this period.

Thermostat rebate program announced

As part of our ongoing efforts to help you save money and be more energy efficient, Northeastern REMC is partnering with NEST, makers of the Nest Thermostat, to offer cutting edge technology that will help you save energy in your home.
