What is levelized billing?
Levelized billing from Northeastern REMC helps make your electric bill predictable. With levelized billing, your monthly electric bill is based on a rolling average of your electric use from the current month and past eleven months.
Here's how levelized billing works:
Your current monthly kilowatt-hour usage based upon your true energy consumption is added to the actual usage from the previous eleven months. The sum of these 12 month's consumption is then divided by 12 to arrive at your average monthly usage. This total is then combined with any current charges such as security light, Operation RoundUp or taxes to determine your levelized bill. This amount will not be the exact same amount each month but will be levelized to avoid extreme fluctuations.
No Surprises:
Levelized billing is based on a rolling 12-month average. Since the current month's billing is calculated into the average, the levelized amount will fluctuate, but only a small amount.
No Settle Up Month:
Because the levelized billing amount is recalculated each month based on a rolling average, the need to settle up balances annually is eliminated. Reconciliation of your account will be necessary only if you move or decide to cancel your participation in the program.
