Northeastern REMC offers a whole house surge protection unit and line of individual surge protectors for sensitive electronic devices. The Ekstrom Surge Guard whole house surge protector, priced at $229.95 plus tax (additional $50 trip charge applies if purchaser is not a Northeastern member), is installed at the meter base by our technician. Northeastern also offers a 10 percent discount on additional surge protectors at the time of purchasing the Ekstrom Surge Guard. These individual surge protectors are highly encouraged to receive optimum protection for sensitive electronic devices.

Prior to installation, Northeastern's technician will ensure that the home is properly grounded. There must be grounded (three prong) outlets in the home in order for the individual surge protectors to be effective. Installation of the Ekstrom MBSA-90 will require temporary interruption of service to the home (approximately 10 minutes).

Ekstrom Surge Guard MBSA-90 (whole house protection unit): Meter socket device for 200 amp service, with a 15 year, $10,000 warranty covering "white" appliances. Such products are defined as washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, electric ranges, HVAC units, garbage disposal units, sump pumps, and other such mechanical or motor driven appliances.....$229.95 installed.

Northeastern REMC makes no warranties or guarantees of any kind to the customer with regard to the whole house Ekstrom Surge Guard MBSA-90, individual strips, or customer’s property. All warranties provided are from the manufacturer and apply to the original purchaser.

• Ekstrom Surge Guard MBSA-90: 15-year product replacement warranty. Despite the fore going, the manufacturer's liability is limited to an amount not exceeding $1,000 for any single claim, and $10,000 per household.

• Individual Protection Strips: Lifetime product replacement warranty. Lifetime coverage from $2,500 to $200,000 for down-line repair or replacement in the event of a loss.

Purchase:
Surge protection packages are kept in stock in our office lobby and are available for purchase to the general public. The package must be paid for in advance and will then become the property of the customer. Northeastern will accept cash, check, credit cards, or debit cards as payment.

If a customer has purchased one of the above packages and needs the whole house protector removed from the meter base (disconnection or moving), a Northeastern representative will come out to the home and remove the protector from the meter. This cost has been accounted for in the selling price.

Additional plug-in surge protectors, to meet each customer's needs, are kept in stock in our office lobby for purchase. These will be sold as an addition to the above listed packages.
